General Fitness 101 – Get off the Couch!

General fitness 101 starts with one simple rule; Get off the couch! With today’s world of large flat screen TV’s, endless channels, and limitless online interaction, it is all too simple to fall victim to the routine of a couch potato. Today is the day that your couch potato sessions come to an end! It’s time to take control of your health, and give your world the ShoX that it deserves.

It’s no secret that complete fitness involves routine exercise, but achieving complete fitness and overall health means gradually making a lifestyle change. Exercise and eating right must become part of your weekly routine. Eating right, however, doesn’t mean you have to give up the foods that you love, and exercise doesn’t mean that it has to be in excess. Instead, moderation is the key to overall health.

Getting Started with Exercise
Cardiovascular activity is the most vital exercise for the body. It not only burns a large amount of calories, but improves heart health, brain function, and a large number of other essentials. There are many different forms of cardio such as walking, running, bicycling, swimming, hiking, and any other activity that gets your heart rate up. It’s suggested by the American Heart Association that 30 minutes of cardio should be preformed daily within 50% to 75% of your maximum heart rate, which is usually 220 minus your age. Target heart rate calculators can be found for free at various Websites such as www.active.com, www.mayoclinic.com, and www.WebMd.com.

After you feel comfortable with your cardio routine, try adding in 2 to 3 days of weight lifting during the week. When weight lifting, make sure to give your muscles at least a day to recover, meaning that you could feasibly weight lift on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It’s recommended that you consult a professional trainer to design a training plan best suited to your needs.
Starting to Eat Right
No longer are the days that eating right means having three square meals a day. Instead, the more often you eat, the better it is for you and your metabolism. Eating five small meals a day can actually speed up your metabolism, burn calories more consistently, and boost your energy. Remember that eating right doesn’t mean giving up the food that you want, but simply having it in moderation.

When you join the ShoXfactor community you’ll be able to share your stories of fitness success with others, and receive important information on current health issues. Join ShoXfactor and ShoX your world today!

Medical Care in the U.S.

As the only wealthy and industrialized nation on our planet without universal health care, the U.S. certainly has a unique medical care system of its own. Because medical care in the U.S. is not universal, you are able to receive health benefits through your work place, through government programs, or acquire it on your own.

Due to the variety of options for individuals obtaining medical care and other things associated with it, such as insurance, the health care industry is big business in the U.S. An estimated 16% of the gross domestic product in the U.S. is presently spent on the medical care industry. This high amount of spending delivers not only high-quality care, but quantity as well; giving you the ability to choose your health care provider, and maintain complete control over your medical care.

Though medical care is not universal, government still plays a large part in the regulation of it. Strict standards must be met for hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, clinics, and anything else that has to do with health. Medical staff must be trained, schooled, and licensed to work, and new drugs put out on the market must be FDA approved.

Since the quality of care in the U.S. is so high, it is also expensive. With little government health aid in the U.S., except for senior citizens, health insurance is a necessity. Though it’s a significant monthly cost, it usually ends up saving you money in the end.

At ShoXfactor, we believe that you have the right to take control of your health, and medical care. We provide pertinent health information throughout our online community, and the means to ShoX your world. Come share stories with others about your experiences with medical care in the U.S., and ShoX your world!

Discrimination

I wanted to express my feelings about discrimination with people that have disabilities or weight problems? Have you ever noticed that you get the "look" more than not? Have you ever noticed that because you have a disability or weight problem you will get over looked by an employer? Get made fun of by other people? Talked about as you walk by? Even so much as to people speaking out loud right in front of you? Well I have to tell you that I am tired of it all!

I understand that people are concerned about weight issues in today's society, but don't you think that person already knows, or understand? Maybe these people don't know what to do, where to turn. They have felt so out of touch with society and their behavior that they have given up. Well our site is here to promote Health and Wellness. We want people to be able to speak their mind. Show us what they got here at ShoXfactor! Speak what they feel and how they feel. From time to time I am sure each one of us has been given some form of discrimination (either directly or indirectly), so at ShoXfactor we are really letting our 1st Amendment shine. Speak what you feel, how you feel! Speaking what you feel will tell the world that we need to stop the madness.

What about that athlete in college that is now overweight, or that athlete that now cannot do the things they use to due to a disability. Or just an average person, who wants to be an athlete in their own mind. How about that overweight person, who has finally started to change their life or have changed their life. Overcome a certain physical challenge.

What about a person who has a disability but chooses to fight it and not give up? Chooses to still make things happen. What about someone who has a disability that refuses to give up? I want each one of you imagine if tomorrow this happened to you, how would you feel? How would you want to be treated?

ShoXfactor is a site for you! ShoXfactor is a way of life. A feeling of acceptance in society. That you can be viewed in a way that you have always wanted to feel and be. Be Challenged. Be Creative. Be You! Have you thought today? What ShoX your world?
